Xiaomi shamelessly knocks off Apple, but this Chinese firm goes them one better. Xiaomi cribbed android and made it look like IOS, while these hacks seem to have literally stolen the Apple operating system, or at least it looks that way.
Lei Jun, who runs Xiaomi, has made no bones about being the Apple of China. A few years back he even said as much. In one of the most macabre mutterings of a corporate official, Lei Jun literally said, ‘Steve Jobs has to die some day.’ And that he and Xiaomi would carry on that torch.
Xiaomi legitimizing Intellectual property theft?
Like I said, Xiaomi attempts to hide their theft, while this Chinese company does not. Perhaps it is just me, but is Xiaomi to blame for the sudden concerted effort at shamelessly pirating Apple?
Before this was done by smaller players who were met with scorn. Xiaomi seems to have changed that. In fsct, with each subsequent sale, Xiaomi is legitimized, hiding its pirating roots. The moral of the story is that crime pays.
Rather than belabor the point, I will let the marketing material of this Chinese pirate speak for itself. It is one small step for intellectual property rights fraud, and one great leap back in the legitimacy of China, its government and ‘legal system’.
