Xiaomi Effect, 95% of New Handsets are Smartphones in China

When Xioami first sold smart phones in China three years ago, smartphones occupied 25% of the market. Today that number is 95%.

Of course this is not all Xiaomi’s doing. Global prices on handhelds have plummeted and Xiaomi merely nudged the needle.

Cribbing Apple designs has not hurt the Chinese firm, which now is the top dog in China. Samsung has been hurt worst by the firm, seeing its Chinese market share drop 33% over the past year.
