The photo below purports to show a Xiaomi concept phone – The Arch. From the looks of it, the phone would be unwieldy.
First off, the form factor is illogical. The curves are on the top which is not where they should be. For example, anyone who has used a 1S can tell you, its razor sharp edges are a pain.
Thus, the double curves would feel much better at the back of the unit.
What is obvious, however, is that Xiaomi still cannot innovate. The curved edges they pilfered from Samsung and floating concept drawings they got from Jobs.
Xiaomi relies on driving hype about their handsets on the cheap. They have no marketing department to speak of and aping Apple has been their ‘go to’ marketing move forever. By showing a rendering of a future Xiaomi is more of the same.
Lei Jun has a loyal fan base which is compensated for posting positive reviews and offering ideas to the firm. For all we know, this is more of the same. Some Xiaomi fan gets his two seconds of fame for offering up a suggestion which will never go anywhere but to the drawing board.
