China’s ‘not so smart’ smart home business. Xiaomi joins in

2-Firms in China flock to smart home business

Several accessories and pieces of equipment compatible with Apple’s HomeKit, which allow user control through their iOS devices, have recently hit the market, and Chinese companies have set their sights on this new smart home business, according to Caixin Weekly.

Home appliance makers were the first companies that began positioning themselves in the smart home market, the magazine said, with Haier and Midea both launching a smart-living platform in March 2014.

With the Apple Watch now fully entrenched in the market, Fitbit may have enjoyed its last experience as the top wearable device maker on IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker list.
