Xiaomi runs Android which they have tweaked for their phones. By law they must reveal this code; it’s part of the Android usage agreement. For their part, Xiaomi had previously decided to ignore this little factoid.
Once again, they leveraged their business model of ‘cut, copy and paste’. I mean they pilfered what is not theirs and then knocked it off and sold it.
This presents a legal problem should they ever decide to sell in countries with strict legal enforcement mechanisms.

This essentially means that the customers have now more fun with their smartphones with the access to the kernel codes. The company has been able to develop the kernels which can easily match with the ROM and also the MIUI stock experience.
