Xiaomi, lead by Lei Jun, is an amorphous blob which has yet to decide on a form factor. One day they are an Internet play and the next they claim to do software. Of course all of this is irrelevant as the only thing they are known for is that which they deign to call themselves-a cell phone company.
While it’s trendy to call them a Smart Home genius, or the next Apple! The fact is that Lei Jun and company merely assemble and sell handsets. If this is not true, then why is almost all of their revenue derived from products called ‘Redmi, Mi3, Mi4 and Mi Note’, all of which are devices used for making phone calls?
Why use Microsoft, Xiaomi?
But if course, simply put, Xiaomi is a Chinese shanzhai player par excellence. They have parlayed design theft into a multi-billion dollar business. Ironically, they are ditching one of their least pirated properties-MIUI, the Android-based software which they thought would be the Holy Grail.
Ya, Xiaomi’s ditching the thing they most wants to monetize for Windows. Wonder how soon we see ‘Gateswear’ skinned programs running on all Xiaomi devices?

Xiaomi is reportedly working with Microsoft in developing a new tablet that runs on Windows 10 instead of its own MIUI, the custom Android skin that traditionally runs on Xiaomi’s devices.
